Canada has both a public and private education system. From kindergarten through to university, the Canadian Government subsidizes a great portion of the financial burden of educating its young minds.

Canada has one of the highest educational standards when compared to other industrialized nations. The school year normally runs from September through to the following June. Secondary studies go up to Grades 11, 12 or 13, depending on the province. After which, students may choose to attend university or college for post-secondary studies.

International students may choose to study in either one of Canada's two official languages. Some universities even offer instruction in both, though students need not be fluent in both languages to attend school in Canada. 

★ BCIT-British Columbia Institute of Technology

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (also referred to as BCIT), is a public polytechnic institution of higher education located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The polytechnic has five campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region, with the main campus in Burnaby. There is also the Aerospace Technology campus in Richmond, the Marine campus in the City of North Vancouver, the Great Northern Way, and Downtown campus in Vancouver. It is provincially chartered through legislation in the College and Institute Act.

BCIT was first established as the British Columbia Vocational School in 1960. When BCIT opened its Burnaby campus in 1964, initial enrollment was 498 students. As of 2013, enrollment has grown to 17,453 full-time students and 29,224 part-time students.  

★ Alexander College

Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution serving approximately 2,000 students each year. Established in 2006 under the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education. Alexander College consists of two urban campuses located in Burnaby and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Alexander College offers a variety of undergraduate degree and transfer programs, including University Transfer, Associate of Arts degree and Associate of Science degree. An integrated English for Academic Purposes program is also available to assist non-native English speakers with their transition to university level studies in the English language.

Alexander College is recognized and accredited by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, Degree Quality Assurance Board (DQAB), BC Education Quality Assurance (EQA) program, and is a proud participant in the BC Transfer System, organized by the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT).
